How important do you think it is to have a mentor in your life?

Mentor definition Courtesy — Cambridge Dictionary; and a picture of me!

I have never had any dedicated or official mentor in my life yet…but indeed have had a couple of people guiding me through different situations in my life, including my family and friends.

When I look back at my initial years of college graduation and in the work-force, I think it would have been so much better to have someone whom I could reach out to, without any fear of judgement, self-doubts and get a real advice. It would have not only helped me in realising a lot mistakes that I was doing back then, but also providing a good direction to achieve my goals better.

Now, after reaching at mid-career level in my life, I have learnt a lot during these years. Whenever I get a chance to work with new-comers in the industry, or have a conversation with college students, I get a strong urge to help them in understanding how they can increase their effectiveness in the efforts they are making, how they can improve in order to get better results and improve their way of working and approaching different things at work.

As a part of this, I have joined AnitaB.org mentorship program, where I will be mentoring some amazing women. This will be my first ever stint in this area.

I am so excited to learn and give back to the community out there!

Looking so much forward to this!
